Antonio Ballarin

Physicist, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer of Sogei
He is a theoretical physicist senior member of the International Neural Network Society, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer in Sogei, visiting professor at the University Canada West in Vancouver and has been engaged for about thirty years in the study of mathematical models for the processes of learning and generalization of the human mind.
In decades of professional activity he is involved in research and development projects in the field of cognitive systems with particular reference to cybernetics and neural learning models.
He developed classification and prediction systems derived from original theories based on the methods of classification and generalization of biological learning systems.
The research he conducted was subsequently applied in various areas, such as:
• economics (credit scoring & rating, corporate strategic analysis),
• social sciences (models for strategic marketing, forecasting methods for political preferences),
• finance (forecasting models for stock and currency markets),
• medicine (diagnostic systems in child neuropsychiatry, models for determining survival in cancer therapies, mortality analysis systems in psychiatric hospitals, forecast time series for viral disease evolutions).
He is the author of numerous articles both specialized and popular.
He is currently involved in several research and development projects in various fields of Artificial Intelligence, in particular: natural language processing, predictive classification, generalization systems – in the following application areas:
• Predictive justice,
• Cybersecurity,
• Epidemiology.
