Antonella Polimeni

Member of the Order of Doctors since 1988, in service at Sapienza – the university where she studied – since 1995, she is full professor in the scientific disciplinary sector Med / 28 Odontostomatological Diseases.
At Sapienza he has held numerous academic positions, among the most recent:
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Coordinator of the PhD in Diseases of the skeleton and orocraniofacial district, Coordinator of the School of Specialization in Pediatric Dentistry, Director of the Interfaculty Master Law, Civil and Industrial Engineering, Medicine and Dentistry, Pharmacy and Medicine, Medicine and Psychology, II level biennial “Integrated management of health and safety in the evolution of the world of work”, in collaboration with INAIL.
At the Policlinico Umberto I since 2003 he has directed the Pediatric Dentistry and Odontostomatology Unit and has held the position of Director of the Department of Integrated Head and Neck Activity.
In 2022 she was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Italian League for the Fight against Cancer (LILT), as an important personality by virtue of her deep involvement and adherence to awareness projects in the field of public health and, in particular, cancer prevention. In addition, she has been appointed as a member of the Technical Table on the professional enhancement of women in healthcare, as well as as a member of the Steering Committee set up by the MAXXI Foundation – National Museum of XXI Century Arts.
In the same year, he received, as Scientific Director of the PROTECT project (Pathologies of the TEsta-Neck distRettO nei migranTi) funded by the Ministry of the Interior under the FAMI 2014-2020 fund, the award conferred by the National Institute for the promotion of the health of migrant populations and for the contrast of diseases of poverty (INMP) as “the best secondary prevention intervention that ensured low-threshold pathways for migrants through a range of sustainable proximity medicine solutions”.
In 2023 she was appointed Member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of the Italian Encyclopedia – Treccani and Member of the Commission for the study and deepening of the various and complex problems related to medical professional negligence, established at the Ministry of Justice.
He has about 650 publications published in international and national journals, more than 100 national and international congress proceedings, 6 manuals, one of which is published in English, 2 monographs. He also edited the Italian edition of an atlas text and two manuals, as well as guidelines published by the Ministry of Health. The scientific production has developed in a network with numerous researchers from universities and national and international research institutions.
